Oh, what a tangled web we weave in the insular little world of electric car advocates.

Take the news earlier today that Universal Pictures has agreed to a request from the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation that it pull a trailer for a new Vince Vaughan movie in which the B-list star says, "Frankly, gentlemen, electric cars are gay."

Now it turns out that there's a Tesla connection to the film.

(We presume that Tesla Motors doesn't particularly think that electric cars are gay, at least in the silly, dismissive use of the word that GLAAD so objects to.)

Stumped?

Well, Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently divorced his wife--his divorce became an issue in Tesla's recent Initial Public Offering--and married a young actress, Tallulah Riley.

Ms. Riley, as it happens, has a cameo in The Dilemma, the Vaughan movie with the offending line.

But it's the nature of that role that makes everything so circular.

Tesla's CEO's new wife's role is as a "concept car spokesmodel," in the words of no less an authority than IMDB.com.

As we've said before, all roads eventually seem to lead back to Tesla.
