Coda Automotive is a brand new car company that has been formed under the stewardship of Miles Rubin of Miles Automotive. On June 3rd the company unveiled itself as well as a new all-electric car that it plans to introduce to the California market in 2010. The company is headquartered in Santa Monica, California.

It is a 4-door 5 passenger sedan that will be sold for $45,000. It uses a 333 volt 33.8 kwh lithium-ion battery that will enable drivers to get from 90 to 120 miles of "real-world" driving range depending on driving habits.  Top speed is 80 mph.

"The Coda sedan is an all-electric vehicle for everyone," said Kevin Czinger, President and CEO, Coda Automotive. "It's a practical revolution for real drivers who need reliable transportation."

The Coda's lithium ion batteries will be supplied by Chinese company Lishen, and Coda hopes to eventually manufacture batteries in the US.  The batteries will have an 8 year 100,000 mile warranty.  Currently there are 20 working prototypes and the company expects to sell 3000 Codas in the last quarter of 2010.

The sedan will come fully equipped for safety, comfort, and convenience. It will include a "green screen for monitoring driving efficiency, bluetooth, AM/FM/XM, iPod dock, aluminum wheels, and power doors and windows.

The cars will be sold through a direct distribution model and initially will only be available in California.
