Honda began selling its new second generation 2010 Insight in the US in late March. By the end of April those cars were just barely getting to dealerships.

Yet, according to just-released April sales results, the automaker has already sold 2096 of the hybrids.

This compares to 3361 Civic Hybrids.

Total Honda sales for the month was 101,029, down 25.3%, but also meaning that the new barely available Insight has already made up 2% of the automakers sales.

Toyota sold 8385 Prius' over the same month, a decline of 61.5% from the year prior.

Honda says it expects to sell 100,000 Insights per year in the US, and 200,00 globally.
